Established in 2008, CATS-MIST (Mechanical Engineering) provides advanced consultancy, advisory, and testing services to public and private organizations, as well as supporting research collaborations with national and international institutions.

The department operates well-equipped laboratories for Hydraulic Pump testing, Vehicle performance evaluation, Material characterization, Fatigue testing, Hardness testing, and Dynamometer analysis. With expert professionals, skilled technicians, and modern infrastructure, the centre delivers precise services including evaluation of technical specifications, field testing, inspection, and certification of mechanical components, following national and international standards.

Over the years, CATS-MIST has built a reputation for integrity and quality, successfully completing numerous consultancy projects across diverse sectors. The Centre for Advisory and Testing Services CATS-MIST (ME), under the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was established in 2008 to provide advanced consultancy, testing, and advisory services to public and private organizations, as well as support research collaborations with national and international institutions.
